Modern Huntsman: Official Illustrator: Volume 4

The Modern Huntsman biannual publication is a collective showcase of photography and written stories from the top creatives and enthusiasts in the outdoor world, with the mission of restoring the perception of hunting in our modern society. Modern Huntsman Volume Four is focused on women of the outdoors. Led by a cast of female guest editors, this issue celebrates the accomplishments and stories of extraordinary gentlewomen in hunting, fishing, art, ranching and conservation. I am proud to contribute to Volume Four as the official illustrator, honoring featured individuals through hand-drawn portraiture.

2% For Conservation: Artist Series

2% For Conservation is a non-profit organization that certifies businesses and individuals who give back at least 1% of their time and 1% of their money to conservation efforts. Their goal is to keep advocates of conservation accountable by promoting active involvement in habitat restoration, awareness, and education.

The 2019 Artist Series is a quarterly collaboration challenging four artists to create a design featuring two species interacting within their habitat. Each artist highlights a conservation group who’s work directly supports the animal’s respective ecosystem. My design, “Bristol Bear”, showcases my interpretation of Brown Bear and Sockeye Salmon niche reliance on the Bristol Bay region of Alaska. Bristol Bay and surrounding regions are currently at risk of destructive development by the proposed Pebble Mine. All proceeds from print, apparel, and sticker sales go to Backcountry Hunters and Anglers Bristol Bay initiative. To date, “Bristol Bear” has promoted dialogue across social media platforms and raised over $2,000.
